Battle Report: Ambush at the Gambling Den
The underhive is no place for hesitation, and tonight, the Blood Relatives learned that lesson the hard way. Seeking to claim their first trophies in Sector G12, the elite Spyre Hunters descended upon the Lodge of Infinite Rage, believing their superior skill and technology would make quick work of the blood-crazed cultists. But in a cruel twist of fate, the ambushers became the prey.
The Ambush That Wasn’t
The Blood Relatives had a plan. They had spotted what looked like easy pickings—fresh-faced Initiates and Skinners gathered in the heart of the ruined Gambling Den, seemingly unaware of the predators lurking in the shadows. In their arrogance, the Spyre Hunters thought themselves untouchable. They took their time, setting up a perfect strike, waiting for the opportune moment to emerge from the darkness and cut down the Lodge’s newest recruits in one decisive blow.
But the Harvest Lord Angrak and his right-hand man Helmar had plans of their own. Whether through sheer instinct, divine intervention from their dark patrons, or just plain dumb luck, they had anticipated the attack. Before the Spyre Hunters could even react, the towering form of Angrak erupted from the shadows behind them, Helmar right at his side.
Before Hunt Master Digby could even shout a warning, the Harvest Lord's Chain Cleaver came down, rending through his armour with terrifying ease. A wet slap, a gurgle and Digby hit the ground.
There was a moment of silence, then all hell broke loose.
Blades clashed in a whirlwind of violence—Monomolecular Swords, Toxin Whips, and Chain Cleavers carving through flesh and armour alike. What was meant to be a calculated strike turned into a desperate melee, the Spyre Hunters struggling to withstand the relentless fury of the Lodge. Despite their advanced weaponry and superior training, they were outmatched by sheer brutality. The Corpse Grinders did not hesitate, did not falter—they simply killed.
Only Jessie the Jakara remained standing, her blade dripping with blood, she had seconds to decide—stand her ground and face the remaining Grinders or cut her losses and live to fight another day. The Blood Relatives had been utterly humiliated, their opening gambit turning into a massacre.
Aftermath
As the last echoes of combat faded, the Lodge of Infinite Rage surveyed their handiwork. The Gambling Den was now theirs and they celebrated their victory with a game of cards, a single lucky draw from a battered deck of cards—a Queen of Hearts—secured them a pile of credits and another Initiate to swell their ranks.
