Side Mission: Rescue Mission

While the Blood Relatives and Glimmer Gang clashed over the Settlement, another battle raged in the underhive. The Graven Golems (Ironhead Squat Prospectors) launched a desperate mission to reclaim one of their own from the hands of The Entourage (Venators). If they failed, their kin would be have had his bounty claimed and fated to be taken off-world by the spire starport, lost to them forever.

A Stout and Stealthy Advance

The Entourage, ever watchful, had set up sentries to guard their prize, expecting trouble. What they did not expect was just how stealthy a group of Squats in mining suits—accompanied by their robotic digging constructs—could be. Moving with surprising quiet through the ruins, the Graven Golems crept closer to the bounty hunters’ perimeter.

The plan might have worked flawlessly—if not for the sharp eyes of Ponsomby. The hunter spotted movement in the dim light and immediately raised the alarm.

The rescue mission exploded into chaos.

Firefight of Attrition

With their cover blown, the Graven Golems suddenly found themselves surrounded. What had started as a rescue became an intense, close-quarters gunfight. The underhive tunnels were filled with the roar of stubbers and the searing flashes of lasfire.

Bullets and beams crisscrossed the battlefield, and though many found their mark, they struck flesh at shallow angles, carving bloody furrows but missing vital organs. The deadly accuracy that had felled so many gangers in past conflicts seemed to wane in the heat of the moment. However, Drill-Kyn Dredger wasn’t so lucky—an explosive round struck his helmet, partially deafening him.

Still, the Golems pushed forward, step by bloody step.

Hauler’s Heroics

The breakthrough came when the young Squat known as Hauler reached the captive. Without hesitation, he cut their bonds and shoved a gun into their hands, barking a simple order: "Get out of here!"

As the freed prisoner fled into the tunnels, Hauler turned to lay down covering fire. His stub gun chattered defiantly, forcing the Entourage to take cover. The effort cost him dearly—a well-placed lasgun shot from Vesker cut through the din, striking Hauler down and leaving him seriously injured.

Realising their bounty had slipped through their fingers and their position was weakening, the bounty hunters turned to their leader. He simply nodded and delivered the only order needed:

"Alright lads, time we made a move."

With that, the Entourage withdrew but they hadn’t gone down without a fight, delivering enough punishment to the Graven Golems to ensure the feud wasn’t over. After all, Squats are known for holding grudges—and bounty hunters never forget a lost payday.

With the Blood Relatives securing the Settlement and the Graven Golems reclaiming their lost kin, Cycle Two has already seen dramatic shifts in power. But the biggest question remains—will any of the gangs attempt the Vault beneath G12, or will they continue to fight for control of the surface?

The next battle looms, and the underhive waits with bated breath.
